Privacy

Silent Home Hazards is a static, informational website. This page describes what actually happens with information when you visit, not a generic policy, but a plain account of this site's own, real technical setup.

Hosting and server logs

This site is served as static files through a third-party hosting provider. Like essentially any website, the hosting provider's servers may record ordinary web-server request information (such as IP address, browser user-agent, and requested page) as part of normal server operation. This site itself does not access, store, or process that information. It is handled, if at all, at the hosting layer.

Analytics

Umami, a cookieless analytics service, records aggregate visits: page viewed, referring page, device type and approximate location at country level. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data and does not follow you across sites. It also records when an affiliate button is clicked, with the product and the position of the button on the page, so we can see which recommendations are useful. That record says a click happened; it says nothing about who clicked.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and the analytics described above are cookieless. If you follow a link to Amazon or another third-party site, that site may set its own cookies under its own policy. See "Third-party links" below.

Accounts and forms

There is no account system, login, newsletter signup, or contact form on this site. No personal information is collected through any form, because none exists.

Amazon affiliate links

Silent Home Hazards participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Product links marked "(paid link)" go to Amazon and carry this site's Associates tracking identifier. If you follow one of these links, Amazon may set cookies or otherwise process data on its own site after you leave Silent Home Hazards, under Amazon's own privacy policy, not this one. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Other third-party links

Some pages link to outside sources this site cites as evidence, for example, EPA guidance pages or a manufacturer's own product documentation. Those sites are operated independently and have their own privacy practices, which this site does not control.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them, consistent with the rest of this page, since the site does not knowingly collect personal information from any visitor.

Changes to this page

If what this site actually does changes (for example, if an analytics tool is added in the future) this page will be updated to describe the new, actual behavior.

Contact

Questions about anything on this page go to hello@silenthomehazards.com, the same address as the Contact page. There is no form and no account system, so an email is the only way this site receives anything from a visitor.
